How to Install GTA 6 Maps (5-Minute Beginner Guide)

Installing maps in GTA 6 takes five steps: back up your game, install prerequisites (file browser and memory extender), download the map, drop the files into your custom maps folder, and launch offline.

Always back up your game folder before installing your first map. Map mods rarely break the game, but a backup saves you hours if something goes sideways.

For MLO interiors you'll also need a script hook framework installed. Most roleplay MLOs ship with RP framework hook points that require scripts to activate.

Launch GTA 6 offline for testing. Never load maps while connected to GTA Online - it will result in an account ban.
